The Taiwan-Netherlands Economic Dialogue took place Nov. 11 in The Hague, underscoring the bilateral commitment to deepening trade partnership.
According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs Cynthia Kiang briefed participants on Taiwan’s economic outlook and major trade policies during the meeting. She pledged that the MOEA would continue to leverage the country’s expertise in high-tech manufacturing, research and development, and supply chain management to help domestic businesses expand their operations at home and abroad.
The deputy minister also took the opportunity to hold talks with overseas Taiwanese enterprises to better understand their investment strategies and to visit major Dutch semiconductor companies, where she gained insight into their needs and encouraged them to expand investment in Taiwan, the ministry said.
The Netherlands is Taiwan’s second-largest trade partner in the European Union, as well as the largest source of foreign investment from the EU. The involvement of Dutch enterprises in Taiwan’s green energy and semiconductor sectors has facilitated steady growth and the advancement of emerging technologies, the MOEA added.
In 2024 bilateral trade volume was around US$14.7 billion. As of September 2025, Dutch investment in Taiwan reached US$38.8 billion, the MOEA concluded. (POC-E)
