Due to covid ‘Thai Poosam’ festival held without devotees

The “Thai Poosam” festival of Lord Subramaniya Swami Temple, which usually attracts thousands of devotees from different parts of Tamil Nadu, was held here without devotees on Tuesday due to COVID19 restrictions.

The devotees who came to this holy coastal city in ‘padayatra’ to pray on this special occasion had to pray from the beach or from afar from the shrine.

As restrictions related to COVID19 were imposed from January 14th to 18th and devotees were prevented from entering the temple during these days, thousands of devotees who had come in “Padayatra” were allowed to enter the temple where do not enter the “Thai Poosam” The rituals were carried out as usual.

Even when the temple grounds looked deserted, devotees prayed from the northern checkpoint, the Thondugai Vinayagar Temple, and from the beach.

Since the ban ended on Tuesday, the devotees who still come from other districts in ‘Padayatra’ and live here in the lodges can enter the temple on Wednesday to perform prayers.
