PM Modi Launches 8th Telecom Meet and India Mobile Congress Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the 8th edition of the International Telecommunication Union – World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (ITU-WTSA) and the India Mobile Congress (IMC) today at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. This marks a significant milestone as India and the Asia-Pacific region host the ITU-WTSA for the first time, bringing together over 3,000 industry leaders, policymakers, and tech experts from more than 190 countries .

The India Mobile Congress 2024, themed “The Future is Now,” promises to be a game-changer, showcasing India’s innovation ecosystem and highlighting advancements in quantum technology, circular economy, 6G, 5G use cases, cloud and edge computing, IoT, semiconductors, cybersecurity, green tech, satcom, and electronics manufacturing. With over 400 exhibitors, 900 startups, and participants from 120 countries, this event is poised to solidify IMC’s position as Asia’s largest technology expo and a major force in global digital transformation .

Hosting the ITU-WTSA in India provides a unique opportunity for the country to play a key role in shaping the global telecom agenda and setting the course for future technologies. Indian startups and research institutions will gain critical insights into developing Intellectual Property Rights and Standard Essential Patents . The event will facilitate discussions on standards for new-age technologies such as 6G, AI, IoT, Big Data, and cybersecurity .

The IMC has grown significantly since last year, with participation from foreign countries, exhibitors, and startups nearly doubling. This year’s event will feature over 900 technology use case scenarios, host more than 100 sessions, and include discussions with over 600 global and Indian speakers.
