FM Nirmala Sitharaman congratulates Tulsi Gabbard on appointment as U.S. Director of National Intelligence

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman extended her congratulations to Tulsi Gabbard on her appointment as the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) in the United States.

In a post on X, Sitharaman praised Gabbard’s service and dedication, saying, “Congratulations @TulsiGabbard on being selected to serve as Director of National Intelligence. For 21 years, you served the USA as a soldier, becoming a Lt. Colonel in the Army Reserve. In my few interactions with you, I have been impressed by the clarity of your thoughts and dedication. Good wishes.”

Gabbard’s career has been marked by over two decades of distinguished service in the U.S. Army Reserve, where she rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. She has been recognized for her leadership, strategic acumen, and commitment to national security.

Former President Donald Trump, who announced her appointment, lauded Gabbard’s unwavering dedication to the country and its freedoms. “I am pleased to announce that former Congresswoman, Lieutenant Colonel Tulsi Gabbard, will serve as Director of National Intelligence (DNI). For over two decades, Tulsi has fought for our Country and the Freedoms of all Americans,” Trump said.

Trump highlighted Gabbard’s bipartisan appeal and her evolution as a political leader, noting her former bid for the Democratic presidential nomination and her current role as a Republican. “She is now a proud Republican! I know Tulsi will bring the fearless spirit that has defined her illustrious career to our Intelligence Community, championing our Constitutional Rights, and securing Peace through Strength. Tulsi will make us all proud,” he added.

Notably, Trump recently secured a second term as U.S. President after defeating Democratic rival Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, earning 295 electoral votes to Harris’s 226. Gabbard’s appointment as DNI underscores her rising prominence and the confidence placed in her leadership.
