Prime Minister congratulates Rekha Gupta and new Delhi Government Ministers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and her team of six ministers after they took the oath of office, expressing confidence that the new team, which blends vigour and experience, will deliver good governance in the national capital.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “Congratulations to Rekha Gupta ji on taking oath as Delhi’s Chief Minister. She has risen from the grassroots, being active in campus politics, state organisation, municipal administration and now MLA as well as Chief Minister. I am confident she will work for Delhi’s development with full vigour. My best wishes to her for a fruitful tenure.”

He also extended his best wishes to Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Sardar Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh, who were sworn in as ministers in the Delhi government.

“Congratulations to Parvesh Sahib Singh Ji, Ashish Sood Ji, Sardar Manjinder Singh Sirsa Ji, Ravinder Indraj Singh Ji, Kapil Mishra Ji, and Pankaj Kumar Singh Ji on taking oath as Ministers in the Delhi Government. This team beautifully mixes vigour and experience, and will surely ensure good governance for Delhi. Best wishes to them,” he said in a post on X.

With Rekha Gupta assuming office, the BJP returns to power in Delhi after a 27-year gap. The ceremony also served as a show of strength for the NDA alliance, with leaders from various states attending the event.

Gupta is the fourth woman to hold the position of Delhi Chief Minister, following Sheila Dikshit, Sushma Swaraj, and Atishi. She is also the fourth BJP leader to serve as the capital’s chief minister, after Madan Lal Khurana, Sahib Singh Verma, and Sushma Swaraj.

Her cabinet includes Parvesh Singh Verma, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh. Among them, Parvesh Singh Verma gained attention during the recent elections by defeating former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal by over 3,000 votes.

According to reports, the new cabinet is expected to hold its first meeting at the Delhi Secretariat around 3 p.m. Key agenda items include the implementation of the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, a poll promise offering women beneficiaries a monthly allowance of ₹2,500, and the rollout of the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme in the capital.

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Gupta hinted at a strict stance on corruption cases from the previous AAP government, stating that those who held power for the past 12 years would be held accountable for any wrongdoing.
