Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the Imperial Hotel in the national capital on Thursday to chair a crucial meeting with Chief Ministers from states governed by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The high-level gathering comes just hours after the swearing-in of Delhi’s newly elected Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and her cabinet.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah was among the first senior leaders to reach the venue, followed by BJP National President JP Nadda and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. The meeting is expected to focus on governance strategies, policy coordination, and preparations for upcoming elections in NDA-ruled states.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi extended his congratulations to Rekha Gupta on assuming office as Delhi’s ninth Chief Minister. In a post on X, he lauded her political journey from grassroots activism to the state’s top post, expressing confidence in her leadership.
“Congratulations to Smt. Rekha Gupta Ji on taking oath as Delhi’s Chief Minister. She has risen from the grassroots, being active in campus politics, state organisation, municipal administration and now MLA as well as Chief Minister. I am confident she will work for Delhi’s development with full vigour. My best wishes to her for a fruitful tenure.”
Gupta, along with six other Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, took the oath of office at a grand ceremony held at Ramlila Ground. The newly appointed ministers include Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh.
The event saw the presence of BJP’s top leadership, including Prime Minister Modi, Amit Shah, JP Nadda, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, alongside Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from various NDA states.
Among the key attendees were Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha, Rajasthan Deputy CM Prem Chand Bairwa, Goa CM Pramod Sawant, and Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu, signaling a strong show of unity within the NDA ahead of crucial political developments.
