Prime Minister Internship Scheme opens round 2 with over 1 lakh opportunities for Indian youth

The Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) has launched Round 2 of its pilot phase, offering more than 1 lakh internship opportunities in top companies across over 730 districts in India. This follows the overwhelming success of Round 1, which saw more than 6 lakh applications.

In this new phase, over 300 leading companies from various sectors—including oil, gas & energy, banking, financial services, travel & hospitality, automotive, metals & mining, manufacturing & industrial, and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG)—are offering internship opportunities. The scheme aims to provide young Indians with real-world experience, enhance their employability, and help them build professional networks.

Eligible candidates can explore and apply for internships based on their preferred district, state, sector, or area. Applicants can also filter opportunities within a customizable radius from their current address. In Round 2, each applicant is allowed to apply to up to three internships before the application deadline.

To further support this initiative, more than 70 Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) events are being organized across India, especially in districts with the highest number of internship opportunities. These events will be held in colleges, universities, ITIs, Rozgar Melas, and other venues, tailored to the qualifications required for these internships. In addition, national-level digital campaigns are being launched through multiple platforms and influencers to increase awareness and engagement with the youth.

The Prime Minister Internship Scheme, spearheaded by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, is designed to harness the potential of India’s youth by offering 12-month paid internships at leading companies. The scheme targets individuals aged 21 to 24 who are not currently enrolled in full-time academic programs or employment, giving them a valuable opportunity to kick-start their careers.

Each intern selected for the scheme will receive monthly financial support of ₹5,000, along with a one-time financial assistance of ₹6,000. The internships are structured to include relevant training and professional experience, ensuring that candidates acquire practical skills while contributing to their chosen fields.

Youth interested in applying can do so through the official portal: [https://pminternship.mca.gov.in/](https://pminternship.mca.gov.in/).
