Manipur CM N Biren Singh expanded his Cabinet by introducing six more ministers thus filling all 12 ministerial chambers.
The newly appointed ministers who took the oath of office at Raj Bhawan in Imphal are Letpao Haokip, Dr Sapam Rajan, Leishengthem Susindro, Heikham Dingo, Thounaojam Basanta and Khasim Vashum.
Manipur Governor La Ganesan has taken the oath of office and secrecy of the new ministers at the Banquet Hall of Raj Bhawan in Imphal around 11am.
The swearing-in ceremony took place a day after the arrival of Dr Sambit Patra of BJP district in charge of Manipur.
Dr Ranjan, Susindro, Dingo are BJP MPs from Khurai, Konthoujam and Sekmai constituencies and Basanta is a BJP member for the first time in the Nambol constituency in Bishnupur.
Letpao, who was re-elected to the Tengnoupal seat on a BJP ticket, was the water minister in the previous government when he was first elected with a National People’s Party ticket in the 2017 elections.
When asked about the positions assigned to the newly appointed ministers, Prime Minister N Biren Singh, who was present at the swearing-in ceremony, said, “It will be distributed within a day or two.” Regarding the delay in the extension of the service, he clarified that it was due to the negotiations taking time.
