India apprises Pakistan to penalize killers of two Sikh Businessmen

India called on Pakistan to sincerely investigate the killing of two Sikh businessmen in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and take drastic action against those responsible for the “heinous” incident.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said India had registered its strongest protest with Pakistan over continuing to “identify” members of the minority community in that country.

Bagchi said India expects the Pakistani government to focus on the safety, security and well-being of minority communities.

Two Sikh businessmen – Saljeet Singh (42) and Ranjeet Singh (38) – were shot dead on Sunday by unknown gunmen in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“We have seen reports of the brutal killing of two Sikh traders by unknown armed men in Peshawar. Sadly, this is not the first such case or unusual occurrence,” Bagchi said.
