Former TMC leader Yashwant Sinha appointed as Presidential candidate by opposition for upcoming Presidential polls on July 24. President Ram Nath Kovind to retire on July 18.
Sinha quit TMC during morning hours, and thus selected as Presidential Candidate.
In 2018, Yashwant Sinha quit BJP and joined TMC and is known to have close relations with CM Mamta Banerjee and family.
Earlier, WB CM Mamata Banerjee tried to consult NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar and NC Chief Farrukh Abdullah for presidential face of opposition, but, both denied the offer.
