NEW DelHI: A 53-year-old school governing body (SMC) member has been arrested for allegedly harassing a girl student in northwestern Delhi, Kanjhawala, police said on Sunday.
The complainant, a 17-year-old girl, is attending a public school in Kanjhawala.
Pradeep, a member of the SMC-appointed SMC school, allegedly sent the girl “strange and vulgar” text messages on her cellphone asking her to have sex, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Pranav Tayal.
A case under section 354A (sexual harassment and sexual harassment) case of IPC and 12 of the POCSO Act was registered at the Kanjhawala police station against Pradeep.
Pradeep, a resident of Kanjhawala, was arrested and remanded in custody, the DCP said.
