Meta-owned photo-sharing platform Instagram has announced that it will allow US shoppers to pay for products directly in Messages.
The company said it wants to help people start conversations with businesses they care about and help them find and buy the products they love in an easy and seamless environment right from the chat thread.
“We’re introducing a new way to shop on Instagram — right where you’re chatting,” the company said in a blog post.
“Finally, you’ll be able to use Meta Pay to complete your purchases, making paying even easier with just a few taps,” he added.
With this new feature, small business owners will be able to chat with customers in real time, answer questions and confirm purchase details.
They can create a payment request with an item description and price and request and collect payment.
And when businesses are ready to set up their digital store, they can use Instagram and Facebook Stores, the company said.
