British police said a man who threw eggs at at King Charles III and Camilla was arrested on Wednesday, as they strolled through the northern England’s city of York.
The incident occurred as the monarch and his wife were entering York through Micklegate Bar, the medieval gate where monarchs are traditionally welcomed into the city.
Video footage showed several eggs in motion and smashed on the ground.
No royal couple seems to have intervened.
Several police officers were seen struggling with the man at the crowd barrier.
The British Palestinian Press Agency reported that he shouted “this country was built on the blood of slaves” as he was detained.
Charles and Camilla are also due to visit the city’s cathedral, York Minster, and unveil a statue of Queen Elizabeth II, who died in September.
