Gujrat Election: Congress Promises To Rename Narendra Modi Stadium to Sardar Patel stadium

Ahmedabad: Congress today promised to rename Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium as Sardar Patel Stadium if it comes to power in Gujarat.

While releasing the party’s manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections, Congress leader and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that Congress would adopt the election manifesto as an official document in the first cabinet meeting if the party forms the government.

Assembly elections in Gujarat will be held in two phases on December 1 and 5. The votes will be counted on December 8.

While the Congress manifesto promises to create 10 lakh jobs in the state for all Gujaratis, it says it will ensure 50% reservation for women in government jobs and provide a monthly grant of ₹2,000 to every single woman, widow, and elderly woman in the state.

The party also said the government would open 3,000 English-medium schools and girls in the state would be given free education till graduation.

Farm loan waiver of up to ₹3,000, 300 units of free electricity, a monthly grant of ₹3,000 to each unemployed youth, and domestic gas cylinders for ₹500 are some of the other bribes promised in the Congress manifesto.

Mr. Gehlot, who holds the current BJP-led government in Gujarat responsible for rampant corruption, said if the Congress is voted to power, an inquiry into all complaints of corruption over the past 27 years will be ordered and the culprits will be charged.

The Congress is offering free medical treatment to all Gujaratis up to a maximum of ₹10 crore and free health check-ups and medicines up to ₹5 crores and has also promised to provide ₹4 crores in the state for COVID compensation.
