Tihar Jail SP suspended over VIP Treatment of AAP leader Satyendra Jain

Ajith Kumar, a DANICS (Delhi, Andanman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Daman, Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli Police Services) officer and Jail Superintendent of Tihar jail no. 7 has been suspended today, November 14th 2022 after allegedly being caught providing “special treatment” for AAP leader Satyendar Jain.

Ajith Kumar’s actions have been said to require an enquiry soon. The Enforcement Directorate had brought this case to the court.

SV Raju, the Additional Solicitor General (ASG) has reported that, “Unknown persons were giving massages and foot massages to Jain, even beyond curfew hours.

He was given special food.” SV Raju also provided the court with ample evidence- CCTV images of Jain receiving special treatment and being admitted in the hospital most of the time for no reason.

The Delhi Cabinet Minister and a member of the Aam Aadmi Party, Satyendar Jain was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on a money laundering case on the 30th of May, 2017. He was accused of buying movable assets worth Rs. 4.81 crores in the name of different people from four different companies he was involved with.

The CBI registered an FIR against Jain under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the criminal sections under the Prevention of Money

Laundering Act in 2017. In connection with this case his wife Poonam and others Sunil Kumar Jain, Vaibhav Jain, Ajit Prasad Jain and Ankush Jain were booked under the same sections and were investigated. A charge sheet was filed by the CBI after a year.

After reportedly being hospitalized for a decrease in his oxygen levels he appeared through an online video conferencing platform for his court proceedings. On 27th June, 2022 his judicial custody was extended for two weeks.

According to the reports of the PTI, special judge Geetanjli Goel who has handled this case refused to consider the plea to extend Jain’s custody due to his absence for his court proceedings but later the judge re-considered his plea and the extension was provided.
