DEHRADUN: Cricketer Rishabh Pant, who is undergoing treatment at Dehradun’s Max Hospital after a serious car accident on Friday, hardly has time to rest as a steady stream of visitors including legislators, ministers, officials and even actors keep pouring in on him. His family expressed concern that people were seeing him “regardless of the prescribed visiting hours”.
A member of the medical team handling Pant’s treatment told TOI on Sunday, “It is important that Rishabh gets enough time to rest, not only physically but also mentally. He is still in pain due to the injuries he sustained in the accident. He needs to talk to visitors, draining his energy that should be conserved for a faster recovery. People planning to visit him should avoid it for now and let him rest.”
Another staff member in the administration wing of the hospital said, “There is no mechanism to filter visitors for Pant.”
Hospital visiting hours are from 11:00 to 13:00 and from 16:00 to 17:00 and only one visitor can see a patient at a given time. Rishabh Pant’s case is high profile which brings in more visitors hence this issue,” the employee added.
Actors Anupam Kher and Anil Kapoor, cricketer Nitish Rana and Khanpur MLA Umesh Kumar and local administration officials met Pant at the ICU ward where he is undergoing treatment. The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) team, led by its director Shyam Sharma, also met him on Saturday.
Meanwhile, late on Sunday, the cricketer was shifted from the ICU to a private ward, according to information received from hospital sources.
