IIM Bodh Gaya and DICCI join hands to build business ecosystem among entrepreneurs in Bihar

Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya (IIM BG) and Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI) formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the 22nd of August, 2023, at IHC Delhi.

The objective of the MoU is to foster collaboration in developing an entrepreneurship culture among the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) communities, especially in Bihar.

IIM Bodh Gaya has distinguished itself as a premier management institute focusing on research, education, training, and consultancy.

The Incubation and Entrepreneurship Center, INSPIRE, at IIM Bodh Gaya seeks to nurture and mentor startups and incubates, promoting entrepreneurial initiatives with both social and commercial objectives.

DICCI, on the other hand, aims to empower SC-ST entrepreneurs for an equitable society. Its focus includes developing entrepreneurship at the grassroots, encouraging entrepreneurial education, and supporting innovative and high-growth businesses by SC ST communities.

This memorandum seeks to cultivate collaborative initiatives between IIM Bodh Gaya and DICCI in policy research, entrepreneurship development, education, training, and dissemination activities.

By leveraging their strengths, the institutions intend to advance entrepreneurship in Bihar, focusing on marginalized segments and youth through knowledge sharing, joint activities, and academic contributions.

The collaboration involves participation in the Stand-up India Scheme, notably the Entrepreneur Development Program (EDP) for SC/ST entrepreneurs. IIM Bodh Gaya and DICCI will collaborate on training approaches, evaluation mechanisms, and startup fund mobilization.

They’ll facilitate fellowship support for SC-ST youths to join IIM Bodh Gaya’s PG Entrepreneurship programs and promote open learning initiatives. Collaborative engagement with Bihar’s state government is envisaged. DICCI will lead government interactions, beneficiary selection, and funding endeavors, while IIM Bodh Gaya will design programs, create content, and involve experts for effective implementation.

IIM Bodh Gaya is also conducting training program for members of SC/ST/EBC communities to strengthen their entrepreneurship skills under CM SC/ST/EBC Udhyami Yojna by Govt. of Bihar
