KABUL, Jan 5 – Eight people have been killed and seven arrested after raids on hideouts of the Islamic State militant group in Afghanistan, a Taliban spokesman said on Thursday.

“These members played a major role in the attack on the Chinese hotel and paved the way for foreign ISKP members to Afghanistan,” spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said on Twitter, describing Wednesday’s raids.

“Many weapons and explosives fell into the hands of the security forces,” he added.
