India: No friendly relation with China until it deasclates army from its borders

While their troops are facing the cold Himalayas, there are unexpected and unseen signs of possible melting of relations between India and China, two giant Asian neighbors armed with nuclear weapons.

During a cover-up visit, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi flew to India and met with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar for a three-hour talks on Friday.

It has been the highest tourist attraction between the two countries since conflicts in its Himalayan border in 2020 resulted in the deaths of 20 Indians and four Chinese soldiers. Tens of thousands of soldiers, tanks, and airplanes were left behind on both sides of the border. Several negotiations for the withdrawal of disputes between military commanders did not produce success in other key areas of conflict.

During surprisingly long talks between the ministers, India put the ball firmly in the Chinese court. Speaking to the media after the talks, Jaishankar said the border should be completely removed so that normal relations with Beijing could resume.

“Relations between the two countries have been strained as a result of Chinese actions in April 2020,” he said, referring to the beginning of the border conflict. “I was honest in expressing our feelings about this matter during the negotiations with Wang Yi,” he said, adding that normal relations would only be restored after the border peace.

Wang, who has so far not spoken to the media or issued a statement after the talks, also met with India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval. He invited Doval to Beijing, as a sign that Beijing might be more willing to consider the complete demolition of the Ladakh border. India says Beijing was suspending military withdrawal talks while building military infrastructure in its territory.

The Chinese state-run media, which reflects the views of the Chinese Communist Party, has been trying to find something similar to India after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Both countries are facing increasing international tests on their position in the month-long war in Ukraine.

On Thursday, EU leaders told China to use its power over Russia to end the war. Western nations have a greater understanding of New Delhi’s role in Russia based on the supply of its weapons.

Both governments have been on the agenda and anticipated this visit. No government made any official announcements in advance and Wang arrived peacefully at New Delhi airport on a flight from Afghanistan on Thursday night. News of his arrival appeared in the Indian and Chinese media.

China, which has declared “unrestricted” cooperation with Russia just before the start of the war in Ukraine, appears to be interested in getting the same thing from India, which has also backed down UN resolutions condemning Russia’s neighbor’s invasion of Russia.

As it will host the annual BRICS summit later this year, China is believed to be seeking India’s presence at a forum that will put India, China and Russia at the same table.

Former Indian foreign secretary Shashank said the secrecy surrounding the visit made it difficult for Wang to secure meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top Indian officials before the visit.

“India probably did not intend to hold a meeting with the prime minister because it needs a strong enough proposal to arrange a meeting,” he told CNBC.

Chinese media have linked these visits to similarities between Indian and Chinese positions over the Ukrainian war. The Chinese newspaper Global Times quoted the Chinese newspaper Global Times as saying: “China and India have a similar view of the Ukraine crisis and the exchange of views between the two countries will serve as a stabilizing force in the region despite foreign efforts to quell unrest. a topic that reports on tourism.

“The United States has been pressuring India to forfeit its defense and oil relations with Russia,” the newspaper said, adding that Wang’s visit “was a dialogue,” showing China’s “important role” in mediating regional groups on issues of common interest.

Wang fluttered his wings in India when he supported Kashmir’s call for “freedom of choice” at a summit of the Islamic State in Pakistan on Tuesday. Both India and Pakistan control parts of the disputed territory while seeking all of them. Wang’s comments were criticized by New Delhi and contributed to the tourist hunting.

However, Beijing has been signing New Delhi for the past few weeks. At a press conference next to the fifth session of the 13th National People’s Congress in Beijing, Wang said the tightening of China-India ties does not serve the “significant interests” of the two countries. He also emphasized the general Chinese position that disagreements over their opposition border should be removed from the two countries’ problems.

India and China last held military talks on March 11, their 15th round, to improve border conflict.
