Last British survivor of WW2, Dambuster Johnny Johnson dies at 101

Last British survivor of WW2 Dambusters dies aged 101.

Sq Ldr George “Johnny” Johnson, who lived in Bristol, was a bomb aimer with No. 617 Squadron which destroyed a key damn in Germany’s industrial heartland during the Second World War.

Mr Johnson was just 21 when he took part in an operation involving experimental jump bombs in 1943.

His family says he died peacefully at his care home while sleeping in Westbury on Trym, Bristol, on Wednesday night surrounded by his family, a source told PA.
