Muslim Mob attacks Hindu Iskcon Temple in Dhaka, Bangladesh, India Condemns

The ISKCON Temple associated with Radhakanta Jeev in the Wari area of Dhaka, Bangladesh was attacked on March 17, sources said on Friday. Sources said about 150-200 people were involved in violence at the ISKCON temple, in which three ISKCON members were injured.

Some damage was caused locally. According to sources, the High Commission of India is in contact with Bangladeshi authorities. The cause of the disturbance, according to Bangladeshi authorities, is a long-running dispute over the location of the ISKCON temple.

The recent decision in the dispute reportedly favored one defendant, who then tried to force his title. Local authorities intervened and then took control of the situation. The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College. Cases have been opened by both sides in the case, and police are investigating the same.

The Supreme Commission of India is still in contact with minority groups, lawmakers, and senior leaders.

The incident comes just months after a series of attacks on religious minorities in Bangladesh last October. The ISKCON Temple in the city of Noakhali was demolished in October last year.

Earlier, civil unrest erupted over the country following allegations that the Quran was despised in the puja viewing area of Cumilla, which fueled violence in many regions across the country.
