Singapore will suspend the sale of new Quarantine free travel tickets to prevent exposure to imported omicron cases, the Department of Health said in a statement Wednesday.
The suspension, which begins on Thursday and continues until Jan. 20, applies to planes and buses entering the city district.
Travelers who have already booked tickets under the Singapore Vaccine Travel Program will still be able to enter the country without being detained alone.

“Our border measures will help us buy time for Omicron’s unique learning and understanding, and strengthen our defenses, which include improving our healthcare capacity, and getting more people vaccinated and promoted,” the health department said.
Singapore has so far received 65 submissions on omicron. Since Monday, there have been six omicron incidents in the country, the health department said.
After Jan. 20, the number of people allowed to visit Singapore without detention will be temporarily reduced, according to a media report.
The health department said the Singapore Civil Aviation Authority and the Department of Trade and Industry would provide more information on airline and airline vaccinations, respectively.
