Japan: Tokyo police say the suspect who stabbed a university professor on Tuesday may have known the victim’s work schedule in advance. The attacker is still at large.

Tokyo Metropolitan University sociologist and professor Miyadai Shinji was stabbed by a man at Minami-Osawa University Campus in Hachioji.

Mijadai suffered serious neck and head injuries. They are expected to be treated for one month.

Investigative sources say the professor was mowed down from behind on the sidewalk on his way to the parking lot.
They note that the attack took place about seven minutes after he finished his fourth lecture at 4.10pm.

Investigators say the suspect is in his 20s or 30s and about 6 feet tall. He was said to be dressed in a dark jacket and trousers, with short hair and an athletic build.

Police are analyzing footage from security cameras.
