Tata Electronics’ ₹4,300-Crore Assam Chip Plant to be Operational by 2025

In a significant development for India’s electronics manufacturing sector, Tata Electronics has announced that its proposed semiconductor fabrication plant in Assam will be operational by 2025. The company’s chairman, Chandrasekaran, made the announcement on Friday.

The plant, which will be set up at an investment of ₹4,300 crore, will produce high-tech electronics components, including chips, and is expected to generate employment opportunities for thousands of people in the region.

According to Chandrasekaran, the plant will be a major milestone in India’s journey towards becoming a global hub for electronics manufacturing. “The Assam plant will be a game-changer for India’s electronics industry, and we are committed to making it a success,” he said.

The project has received support from the Assam government, which has provided land and other incentives for the plant’s establishment. The company has also received approvals from the central government for the project.

The plant’s operationalization by 2025 is seen as a significant achievement, given the complex nature of semiconductor manufacturing. Industry experts say that the plant will not only meet domestic demand for electronics components but also export to other countries.
