What’s behind ‘Buy Elon Musk’s perfume buying Twitter’ Tweet

Elon Musk has a problem and solves it with perfume. No, it’s not body odor – the world’s richest man wants your help buying Twitter, so he launched a perfume to finance his purchase.

The Tesla founder, who now describes himself on Twitter as a perfume salesman, launched his perfume, Burnt Hair, on October 12. It is described on his website as “Essence of Repugnant Desire”. Ah, just the scent you’ve been looking for.

Enthusiastic reviews on the site include: “Stand out in the crowd! Pay attention as you walk through the airport,” and “Like leaning over a candle at the dinner table, but without all the hard work!”

The $100 perfume is available on the website and will ship in the first quarter of 2023. According to Reuters, quite a few people want to smell like burnt hair, as Musk received orders for $1 million worth of the product.

It remains to be seen how much this will help the billionaire to buy the social network. Earlier this year, he struck a deal to buy the site for $44 billion, but the road to the actual purchase was bumpy, with Musk stepping down and the matter then ending up in court. Twitter is suing him for breach of contract, and the court has set a deadline of October 28 to close the deal. Last week, he suggested going through with the original $44 billion offer.
