IIM BODH GAYA INAUGURATES SOFTWARE PROGRAMMER COURSE UNDER THE PMKVY 4.0 PROGRAM

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bodh Gaya, achieved a significant milestone on September 18th by inaugurating the Software Programmer Course under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) 4.0 program. Dr. Vinita S Sahay, the Director of IIM Bodh Gaya, marked this historic moment as the institution became the first among the prestigious IIMs to serve as a Skill Hub for the PMKVY program.

This initiative, led by Dr. Gaurav Abhishek Tigga and his dedicated team, is poised to transform vocational education in India. The course is a crucial component of PMKVY, resulting from a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between IIM Bodh Gaya and the National Skill Development Skill Corporation (NSDC) on July 31, 2023.

NSDC, with its mission to promote skill development through quality vocational institutions, provides funding for scalable training initiatives. It also focuses on quality assurance, information systems, and train-the-trainer academies, directly and through partnerships. PMKVY, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 15, 2015, aims to make every Indian self-sufficient by equipping the youth with the skills needed for success. The inauguration of PMKVY 4.0 at IIM Bodh Gaya represents the next chapter in this transformative journey.

PMKVY 4.0 is a mission designed to equip youth with relevant skills. It identifies and certifies the skills of those proficient in their fields, enhancing their capabilities. The Software Programmer Course consists of two core components: Theory and On-the-job Training. The theory portion is divided into IT skills and Employability skills, focusing on fundamental programming concepts, algorithms, and software application design, with an emphasis on HTML 5 for web and mobile development.

What sets this program apart is its practical, hands-on approach. Students delve into web and mobile development using HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript. They master coding, debugging, testing, and documentation, preparing to create cutting-edge software products. Additionally, students gain vital employability skills.

These competencies open doors to various job roles, from web developers to mobile app developers and entry-level technical management positions, fostering skilled professionals and forward-thinking leaders. Upon completion, participants receive a Government of India-issued certificate, confirming their readiness for the workforce.

The inauguration of the Software Programmer Course at IIM Bodh Gaya is a historic moment in India’s vocational education. It underscores the institution’s commitment to industry-driven education, empowering youth for a brighter future.
