Mumbai: Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s wife has been booked for alleged trespass and voluntary bodily harm on a complaint by his mother, a Mumbai police official said on Monday.
An FIR against the actor’s wife Zainab was registered on Sunday, an official of the Versova police station said.
“Complainant Mehrunisa Siddiqui, who is the actor’s mother, alleged that Zainab barged into her house and assaulted her after provoking an argument. Zainab has been questioned in the case,” he said.
A case has been registered against Zainab Siddiqui under Indian Penal Code sections 452 (entering a house with intent to cause bodily harm, assault, or wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and other offenses.
No arrests have been made in the case and further investigation is underway, he added.
Meanwhile, police sources said the incident may be a result of a property dispute between the actor, his wife, and his mother.
