B Govindarajan appointed as new CEO Of Royal Enfield

Eicher Motors, the parent company of Royal Enfield, has announced the appointment of B. Govindarajan as CEO of the motorcycle brand.

Govindarajan has been Chief Executive Officer of Royal Enfield since August 2021 and was previously Chief Operating Officer of RE since 2013.

In addition to serving as Chief Executive Officer of Royal Enfield, Govindarajan will also serve as a full-time director for the company’s Board of Directors, Eicher Motors Limited (EML).

The announcement came in connection with the Company’s fourth-quarter fiscal 2022 results, which were released at the board meeting on Friday, May 13, 2022.

Eicher Motors says the appointment of B reflects the company’s long-term ambitions, strategy, growth plans, and a strong pipeline of product launches in the coming years.

The Company believes that Govindarajan’s business and technical knowledge, leadership skills, industry understanding, and ongoing industry and Royal Enfield experience will help him take the Company to the next level.

In announcing the company’s fourth-quarter fiscal 2022 results, B. Govindarajan, CEO of Royal Enfield and Permanent Director of EML said, “

Govindarajan has spent over 23 years with Royal Enfield and Eicher Motors and managed several projects over the years and was instrumental in the growth and expansion of the company’s manufacturing facilities.

According to Eicher, it also played an important role in bringing about a paradigm shift in product quality and the new product development process.

Govindarajan has also led the development and launch of several bikes at Royal Enfield including the Himalayan, the 650 Twin platform and bikes, and more recently the J-series platform which includes the Meteor and Classic 350.

Eicher says he has also been instrumental in driving the company’s global ambitions through the establishment of subsidiaries and CKD operations in critical markets.

In fiscal 2022, Royal Enfield added two new local assembly units in Colombia and Thailand, in addition to its existing CKD unit in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
