HomeIndiaDelhi Contemporary Art Week runs from 1st to 7th...

The fifth edition of Delhi Contemporary Art Week (DCAW) will take place from September 1st to 7th at Bikaner House in the national capital.

The seven participating galleries: Blueprint 12, Exhibit 320, Gallery Espace, Latitude 28, Nature Morte, Shrine Empire and Vadehra Art Gallery present selected events, lectures, workshops and guided tours.

There will also be a curated group exhibition of interdisciplinary practices by Meera Menezes entitled Legal Alien; to be exhibited in the old building Casa Bikaner.

The exhibition explores the concept of alienation and analyzes the possible factors that could lead to it. Is it the fast pace of technology that seems to connect people, but actually creates a deep sense of alienation?Or is it the city and the anonymity it grants its residents that creates this alienation? Having emerged from the Covid-19 pandemic, our enforced isolation has also left many of us feeling lonely.

In the exhibition, the artists reflect on this state of alienation from
and interpret it in different ways.

In addition to exhibiting at the main venue, the partner galleries will also host curated exhibitions in each of their individual galleries, creating a city-wide passion for contemporary art.

DCAW began as an attempt to generate discourse in tune with the changing perspective of the present.
