Delhi govt announces grand celebrations for Hindu New Year, Ram Navami, Hanuman Janmotsav, and Ambedkar Jayanti

The Art and Culture Department of the Delhi Government has decided to celebrate Chaitra Shukla Pratipada Nav Samvatsar, the Hindu New Year, with great grandeur.

The program, to be held under the chairmanship of Speaker Vijender Gupta, will have Chief Minister Rekha Gupta as the chief guest, while Minister of Art & Culture Kapil Mishra will attend as the distinguished guest. Several esteemed ministers and legislators of the Delhi govt will also be present. The event will feature a soulful musical performance by renowned singer Kailash Kher and his Kailasa band.

Speaking about the event, Mishra said, “This is the first time the Delhi govt is celebrating Hindu New Year on such a grand scale. The celebrations will commence on March 30 with a big event on the lawns of the Delhi Assembly, where the entire building will be illuminated with lamps, much like during Diwali.”

As the occasion coincides with the first day of Navratri, a Falahar (fruit-based meal) program has been arranged for attendees who observe fasting.

Additionally, for the first time, the state govt will organize Falahar programs at multiple locations during Navratri. These will be held on Saptami (seventh day), Ashtami (eighth day), and Navami (ninth day), featuring Kanya Pujan ceremonies where underprivileged girls will be served food, and special prayers will be offered to the nine forms of Goddess Durga.

The Delhi govt is also preparing to celebrate Ram Navami, Hanuman Janmotsav, and Ambedkar Jayanti on a large scale.

He further added, “This initiative is a crucial step towards preserving and promoting Indian culture and traditions. Our government will continue to organize such cultural awakening programs in the future. We urge all citizens of Delhi to participate wholeheartedly in the historic Falahar Party and make this cultural festival a grand success.”

Delhi is known for its rich art, culture, and history. The Delhi govt will continue to organize similar cultural programs in the future. The city’s budget also places special emphasis on art and culture, with the Sahitya Kala Parishad playing a vital role in nurturing such cultural initiatives.
