FIR Filed Against Rahul Gandhi For Unauthorised Use Of Music From ‘KGF-2’

Bengaluru: A case has been registered against three senior Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi for alleged unauthorized use of music from the Kannada blockbuster ‘KGF-2’ during the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra party.


An FIR was registered at the Yashwanthpur police station on Friday under provisions of the Copyright Act, Information Technology Act, and Indian Penal Code against Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh, and Supriya for using KGF-2 music for the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul. Gandhi on a complaint filed by M Naveen Kumar, who manages MRT music.

The complainant alleged that Jairam Ramesh posted two videos of the yatra on his official Twitter handle, in which popular songs from the film KGF-2 were used without permission.


“The said videos were shot using popular audio recordings owned and in possession of the complainant. The audio recordings are those of the cinematographic film ‘KGF Chapter 2’ (Hindi version) which is popular worldwide,” Kumar said.

“After reviewing the videos, it is clear that all the accused fraudulently, brazenly and slavishly, with the intention of wrongfully and unlawfully, used the audio recording owned and held by the complainant.”

The Bharat Jodo Yatra of the Congress started from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on 7 September and is expected to reach Jammu on 30 January 2023.

So far, the march has hit five southern states namely Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. In this course, he will go through different states.
