Gadkari ensured no toll plaza within 60 km, transforming decision

The Minister of Roads and Transport Nitin Gadkari said on Tuesday that there should be no toll plaza within 60 kilometers of national highways and that he would ensure that the rules are fully implemented in the next three months.

“I will ensure that there will be only one toll plaza over 60 kilometers and if there is a second toll plaza, it will be closed in the next three months,” he said, in response to a Lok Sabha discussion on grant requirements for his service.

The another amazing fact is that the under Nitin Gadkari’s rule India has built 13,327 KM of highways in FY21.

Commenting on points raised by members, he said people living near the toll plazas would be able to obtain passports through Aadhar cards.

Commenting on infrastructure development projects in Jammu and Kashmir, the minister said about a thousand people are currently working on the Zojila tunnel project at the moment.

“In Jammu and Kashmir projects worth R7,000 crores are underway. About 1,000 people are working inside the Zojila tunnel at 8 degrees celsius,” Gadkari said.

“Work on the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra highway has begun. By the end of this year, we will be able to reach Mumbai from Srinagar in 20 hours and the distance between Delhi and Amritsar will be covered in four hours,” he added.
