IIM Bodh Gaya Hosts Dr. Virendra Kumar Khatik, Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment

IIM Bodh Gaya, one of the premier management institutes in India, had the honour of hosting Dr. Virendra Kumar Khatik, Honourable Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, on its campus today.

The Minister had an insightful interaction with faculty members of IIM Bodh Gaya, where he emphasized the importance of diversity in premier educational institutes.

He said that diversity enriches the learning environment and fosters innovation and creativity. He also stressed the role educational institutes can play in empowering the youth and the disadvantage groups of our country, by providing them with quality education and skill development opportunities.

Dr. Khatik also highlighted the importance of Indian Knowledge Systems like yoga and meditation in combating social evils like substance abuse.

He said that these ancient practices can help in enhancing physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of individuals and society. He recognised the youth as the promise of our nation’s future—a vision shared by our esteemed Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.

Dr. Vinita S. Sahay, Director, IIM Bodh Gaya, reiterated that at the Institute, diversity is not merely a concept but a deeply ingrained value reflected in our diverse student body and esteemed faculty. She emphasized that IIM Bodh Gaya remains steadfast in its dedication to empowering socially disadvantaged groups and women, ensuring equal opportunities for all.

She also highlighted that the Institute has introduced courses on Yoga, Mindfulness, Emotional Intelligence and Well-being in the curriculum.

Dr. Sahay also showcased the progress of IIM Bodh Gaya’s new campus to the Honourable Minister and emphasized unwavering commitment to providing a world-class learning environment.

IIM Bodh Gaya is one of the third-generation IIMs established by the Government of India in 2015. The Institute offers various academic programmes such as Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP), PhD Programme in Management (PhD), Executive Fellow Programme in Management (EFPM), Executive Education Programme (EEP), etc.

The Institute aims to create socially responsible managers and leaders who can contribute to nation-building.
