IIM Bodh Gaya participates in the ‘Happy Periods’ initiative

Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya, in a dedicated pursuit of fostering awareness about health and hygiene fundamentals, recently undertook a transformative initiative in one of the villages adopted by the institute- Turi Khurd.

On November 26th, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon, a dynamic team comprising 17 students from Pragati, the CSR committee of IIM Bodh Gaya, along with two esteemed faculty members- Dr. Johnson Abhishek Minz and Dr. Md. Ashiq,  immersed themselves in a significant endeavor aimed at prioritizing personal health.

The cornerstone of this impactful event was the ‘Happy Periods’ initiative, where students actively engaged with women and girls from the village, imparting crucial knowledge about basic menstruation hygiene. Following this, they distributed free sanitary pads among them. This vital awareness session set the tone for a broader mission, underscoring the institute’s commitment to the well-being of the adopted communities.

Collaborating with the Tzu-Chi Foundation, a screening for health unfolded, with members of the foundation and student volunteers conducting a door-to-door drive. This comprehensive approach included a health survey administered in over 100 families, providing invaluable insights that would inform and guide the committee’s future initiatives.

Under the capable leadership of Dr. Minz and Dr. Ashiq, the energetic student team seized this opportune moment to make a meaningful impact on the society. By addressing the critical nexus of health and hygiene, IIM Bodh Gaya continues to exemplify its dedication to community welfare and transformative education.
