Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched multiple development projects in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday, aimed at preparing the city for the upcoming Mahakumbh 2025.
During his visit, he participated in religious ceremonies at various sacred sites. These included performing rituals at the Sangam, Akshay Vata Vriksh, Hanuman Mandir, and Saraswati Koop.
Among the projects inaugurated are various infrastructure works, including rail and road improvements such as 10 Road Over Bridges, permanent ghats, and riverfront roads. These projects aim to enhance travel convenience in the area.
In line with his commitment to a cleaner Ganga, PM Modi inaugurated initiatives to intercept, tap, divert, and treat minor drains flowing into the river. These measures aim to prevent untreated water from polluting the Ganga, furthering the objectives of the Swachh and Nirmal Ganga mission.
He also launched infrastructure projects related to drinking water and power supply, addressing the essential needs of the city’s growing population.
The Prime Minister inaugurated major temple corridors which will include the Bharadwaj Ashram Corridor, Shringverpur Dham Corridor, Akshayvat Corridor, and Hanuman Mandir Corridor among others.
These projects will ensure ease of access to devotees and also boost spiritual tourism.
PM Modi also unveiled the “Kumbh Sah’AI’yak” chatbot, an AI-based assistant designed to guide visitors with real-time information about events and logistics during the massive gathering.

The main bathing festival, known as the “Shahi Snan” (royal baths), will take place on January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), and February 3 (Basant Panchami).
As part of the preparations for Mahakumbh 2025, the Uttar Pradesh Police will integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies into their CCTV systems to enhance security for the millions of devotees expected to attend, Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar said. (ANI)
