PM Modi leads roadshow in Visakhapatnam; launches development projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a roadshow in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday, joined by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.

The roadshow saw residents lined up along the streets, welcoming the Prime Minister’s convoy. Earlier in the day, PM Modi arrived in Visakhapatnam, where he was greeted at the airport by the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, S. Abdul Nazeer, along with the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and other officials.

As part of his visit, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the NTPC Green Energy Limited Green Hydrogen Hub Project at Pudimadaka near Visakhapatnam. This project, under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, involves an estimated investment of Rs. 1,85,000 crore. It includes plans for 20 GW of renewable energy capacity, with the facility aimed at producing 1,500 TPD Green Hydrogen and 7,500 TPD Green Hydrogen derivatives such as Green Methanol, Green Urea, and Sustainable Aviation Fuel.

The initiative aligns with India’s goal of reaching a non-fossil energy capacity of 500 GW by 2030 and targets the export market for clean energy solutions.

The Prime Minister also participated in the foundation stone-laying ceremony and inauguration of multiple railway and road projects worth approximately Rs. 19,500 crore. Among these is the establishment of the South Coast Railway Headquarters at Visakhapatnam, intended to enhance connectivity and reduce congestion in the region.

Furthering industrial development, the foundation for a Bulk Drug Park was laid in Nakkapalli, Anakapalli district. The park is positioned to benefit from its location along the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor and the Visakhapatnam-Kakinada Petroleum, Chemical, and Petrochemical Investment Region. It is expected to boost economic activity and generate employment.

The visit also included the foundation stone laying for the Krishnapatnam Industrial Area (KRIS City) under the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor in Tirupati district. Envisaged as a greenfield industrial city, the project has an estimated investment of Rs. 10,500 crore and is expected to create about one lakh direct and indirect jobs.
