In a disturbing incident that took place on the night of June 4, a man named Usman Khan attempted to rape a pregnant cow named Nandini behind a hotel called Apulaki in Maharashtra. The cow is owned by Bajrang Dal activist Nilesh Vijay Chaskar, who was alerted to the distressing situation when he received a call in the early hours of the morning.
Chaskar and his friend rushed to the scene and discovered Nandini in excruciating pain. The assailant was later identified as Usman Khan and was apprehended by Chaskar and his companions.
According to the complaint filed by Nilesh Chaskar at Bhosari Police Station in Pune, Maharashtra, the horrifying assault on Nandini unfolded when Usman Khan entered the shed where the pregnant cow was kept at night.
Khan tied a rope around Nandini’s neck, attempted to hang her, and then proceeded to sexually assault her. Failing in his attempt, he resorted to inserting a blade into the cow’s private parts in an attempt to remove her organs. The assault left Nandini severely injured and she lost a significant amount of blood.
Chaskar and his friend, Akshay Shinde, reviewed the CCTV footage from the area, which led them to identify Usman Khan fleeing the scene. They subsequently found him hiding behind a wall at an empty plot nearby.
Khan had changed his clothes after the assault but was still covered in the stench of cow dung and blood. The duo detained Khan, and upon inspecting his bag, they discovered clothes and shoes soiled with cow dung and blood. The authorities were immediately contacted, and both the police and a doctor arrived at the scene to provide medical assistance to Nandini.
A formal complaint was filed against Usman Khan, and he was taken into police custody. During the interrogation, Khan confessed to the crime and stated that he had committed the heinous act under the influence of alcohol.
Chaskar, the owner of Nandini, expressed uncertainty about the motive behind the assault, speculating that someone might have provoked Khan or that he held personal enmity against Chaskar.
Nandini, the victim of this brutal assault, is currently in a critical condition. She is unable to stand and has lost her appetite. Despite Chaskar’s attempts to feed her, she is unable to chew food. Veterinary experts are providing her with intensive care and treatment to help her recover from the injuries sustained during the assault. Nilesh Chaskar, along with other Hindu activists, visited the local police station to file a complaint against Usman Khan, seeking justice for Nandini’s suffering.
Regrettably, this is not an isolated incident. In recent months, there have been other instances of attempted rape on cows reported in various parts of the country. In May, a man named Hasan Khan was arrested in Chhattisgarh for a similar offense. He was apprehended by Hindu outfits and subsequently handed over to the police. Another incident occurred in March, where an 18-year-old named Mohammad Sahil and three others were arrested for engaging in unnatural sex with a cow in Durg, Chhattisgarh. These incidents highlight the need for stricter measures to prevent such heinous acts.
The shocking incident of a pregnant cow being subjected to a brutal assault in Maharashtra has raised concerns about the safety and welfare of animals. The arrest of Usman Khan, the perpetrator of this crime.
