Samsung has announced that it will soon release a software update for its various smartphones, which a report says will speed up performance in thousands of apps.
The performance drop has been observed on some games like Genshin Impact, as well as apps like Instagram, Netflix, and some Google apps.
It should be noted that benchmarking apps like 3DMark and Geekbench do not appear to be affected by performance throttling.
“We value the feedback we receive on our products, and after careful consideration, we plan to release a software update soon to allow users to monitor performance while running gaming applications,” said Kelly Yeo, a spokeswoman for Samsung, opposite The Verge.

A Twitter user claimed that Samsung phones use a preinstalled app called Game Optimization Service to limit hardware resource usage for more than 10,000 apps.
It has been reported that the default app is running in the background when using game and non-game apps. It was also believed that the throttling issue was limited to Samsung Galaxy S22 series phones.
However, Geekbench developer John Poole confirmed that the performance throttling also occurs on older models. The exact reason why Samsung allegedly throttles the performance of its devices through the Game Optimization Service is unclear, the company does not give details in its statement.
It is speculated that limiting CPU and GPU resources could provide better battery life and avoid overheating issues to some extent.
