The Karnataka government on Tuesday banned the use of speakers between 10 pm and 6 am amid intense debate over speakers.
The Karnataka government said no loudspeaker or public address system will be used unless there is written permission from the relevant authorities.
“A loudspeaker or public address system must not be used at night (between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.) except in closed rooms for communication within e.g.p.
In auditoriums, conference rooms, community halls, and banquet halls,” the circular states System or any other noise source used must not exceed 10 dB(A) above the ambient noise standards for the area or 75 dB(A), whichever is lower.
