UP Court grants death sentence to Waliullah in Varanasi serial bomb blast case

Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad court grants death sentence to 2006 Varanasi Serial bomb blast convict Mohammad Waliullah.

At least 18 people have been killed and more than 100 injured in twin explosions at Sankat Mochantemple and Varanasi Cantonment railway stations within 15 minutes on the night of March 7, 2006.

Waliullah, a resident of Phoolpur in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, was arrested by police after a case was opened and his case was taken to Ghaziabad after Varanasi lawyers refused to protect him.

Waliullah, a mufti or Islamic legal official, faces three charges, including six cases registered in Lanka and Dashashwamedh at police stations and the Government Railway Police Precinct in Varanasi, Ghaziabad lawyers said.

Waliullah has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and voluntarily injuring dangerous weapons, without booking under the provisions of the Explosives Act.
