As Vistara prepares to merge with Air India, passengers have taken to social media to reflect on their final flights with the airline, expressing nostalgia and gratitude for the service that made it one of India’s most beloved carriers. The airline, a joint venture between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, will complete its integration with Air India, also owned by Tata Group, on Monday.
Many passengers shared heartfelt posts about their last experiences with Vistara, describing it as a top-tier airline that delivered world-class service. “Wrapped up my last flight on @airvistara before its merger with @airindia, set to complete in two days. Filled with nostalgia for the great flights and excellent service that made Vistara India’s best airline,” posted passenger Chirag Naik. Another user, Brown Sahiba, reflected on the end of an era, noting, “What a great airline and product Vistara was. Mergers are always scary — one brand always dies. In this case, it will be Vistara. Sad to see good brands die.”
Passengers shared their final in-flight photos and memories, highlighting the luxury and comfort Vistara provided, marking it as a memorable part of their travel experiences.
To ensure a seamless transition, Vistara’s flight operations will be absorbed by Air India, with Vistara flights now identified by an Air India code starting with “AI.” For instance, flight UK 955 will become AI 2955 after the merger on November 12. Vistara’s routes and schedules will remain unchanged, with the same crew continuing to provide the familiar service that passengers have come to know and love.
Air India is working to facilitate the transition by allocating additional resources at major airports. New help desk kiosks and customer service staff wearing “How may I assist you?” Air India x Vistara-branded T-shirts will assist passengers with old Vistara tickets. At international airports, signage will direct customers to Air India check-in counters for Vistara flights, while those calling Vistara’s customer service will be redirected to Air India representatives.
In addition, over 4.5 million Vistara loyalty program members will be integrated into Air India’s frequent flyer program. The merger also increases Air India’s connectivity, with access to over 90 domestic and international destinations, plus 800 additional locations through codeshare and interline partners.
The integration of Vistara’s services into Air India also extends to the airline’s fleet. Air India’s narrow-body aircraft are being upgraded with new interiors, while Vistara’s renowned catering service will now be available on Air India flights, ensuring passengers continue to enjoy the high-quality services they associate with the airline.
