Four people have been killed after a commercial helicopter crash crashed into a U.S. military base, officials said.

The helicopter was used by Croman Corporation, which “provides a variety of services” at the base, a spokeswoman for the Pacific Missile Range Facility said in a statement.

The helicopter was part of a training ground in Kekaha when it crashed in the northern part of its base, a police spokesman said.
Paramedics responded to the crash, a spokesman said. Four people were killed. The names of the victims have not been released.

All four employees were Croman employees, Brian Beattie, the company’s operations director, in a statement.

“The helicopter was conducting regular training under contract with the U.S. Navy,” Beattie said. “No further details are available.”

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident, said a Pacific Missile Range Facility spokeswoman.

The National Transportation Safety Board has also confirmed that it is investigating the crash of the Sikorsky S-61N helicopter near Kekaha.

The Federal Aviation Administration is also investigating, Beattie said.

The Pacific Missile Range Facility is “the world’s largest exploration tool, multi-dimensional and archery training,” according to the U.S. Navy. It has more than 42,000 square miles of controlled air space.
