Goutham Reddy, the 51-year-old minister was in Dubai to bring in investment for the state and had returned to Hyderabad on Sunday.
Mekapati Goutham Reddy, the minister of information and technology and industry in the Andhra Pradesh government, passed away on Monday after suffering a heart attack.
According to reports, the 50-year-old minister was in Dubai to deliver money to the government and returned to Hyderabad on Sunday. He was taken to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills in an emergency after fainting at his home.
Expressing his shock and grief, Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had known the minister from his early days as a promising young leader. He was speechless when he spoke of the death of his young colleague in the cabinet.
The premier conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members.
In a statement, the hopsital said, “The minister arrived at the ER at 7.45am without answering, was not breathing and had a heart attack when he arrived. He received immediate CPR and improved cardiovascular support in our emergency department. The emergency medical team and specialists, including cardiologists and paramedics, have assisted him. ”
“CPR is performed for more than 90 minutes. Despite our best efforts, she could not be resurrected. He was pronounced dead at 9:16 am this morning. We provide for his family in the best possible way during this difficult time. ”
Speaking on Twitter, Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao said, “It is with great sadness and incomparable shock to hear of the sudden death of a dear friend @MekapatiGoutham Garu. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends during this difficult time.
