Telecommunication Giant Apple eyeing to boost up their manufacturing in India after imposition of Covid curs in China.
Movement may encourage others to change places. In addition, China’s indirect support for Russia in its invasion of Ukraine could also remove the factories from the Central Empire to make construction materials and essentials.
Apple’s move comes as China’s Covid policy barred its executives and engineers from entering the country and as the power outage last year affected the country as a manufacturing base.
Apple is in talks with some suppliers about the increase in India, which is seen as very close to China in terms of population and low operating costs, reports The Wall Street Journal.
The share of Indian-made iPhones is likely to rise to 6 percent to 7 percent from 3.1 percent this year, according to research firm Counterpoint.
In April, Apple said it had begun producing the latest generation of iPhones and iPhone 13 series in India. Some analysts say that providers may be less comfortable spending large amounts of money on volatile production during global economic uncertainty, reports ANI.
