‘Bomb threat’ to Iranian Mahan Airplane over Indian airspace

A Mahan Air flight, which was in Indian airspace when the airline received the bomb threat, was denied permission to land in India due to technical reasons.

New Delhi: A bomb threat aboard an Iranian passenger flight as it approached Delhi put authorities on alert this morning. A Mahan Air flight, which was in Indian airspace when the airline received the bomb threat, was denied permission to land in India due to technical reasons.
The plane (IRM081) was en route from Tehran, Iran to Guangzhou, China, according to flight tracking website Flightradar. After permission from the authorities, it continued on its way to China as it was not allowed to land in Delhi and Jaipur.

A call about a bomb threat on a flight was received at 9:20 a.m., police said.

Authorities at the Delhi airport were immediately alerted and permission to land was sought. But permission was not granted due to technical reasons and diverted to Jaipur. Landing was also not allowed at Jaipur.

The plane then followed its original route to China
