Delhi Services Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj has lodged a police complaint against Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, alleging that he received a death threat from him, officials said on Saturday.

A senior police officer said they are investigating the matter based on the complaint. Mr Bharadwaj had made the accusation on Friday and said he had reported it to Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena.

The minister’s claim comes amid a growing rift between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and the bureaucrats.

Mr Bharadwaj told reporters that he met with Mr Saxena at the Raj Niwas on Friday and got his assurance of action.

He also said, “On May 16, there was a meeting of the Civil Services Board and we were waiting for the chief secretary till 9:30 pm as he was busy.

We sent him WhatsApp messages and he said he will come.” Mr Bharadwaj alleged that “at 9.30 pm when he arrived at my office, he threatened to kill me”.

“We have told LG sir about the matter clearly. He has said he will take strict action. We want that strict action should be taken against Naresh Kumar,” he said.
