The character who is now played by Kim Medcalf, has already returned to the iconic set.
According to Metro.co.uk, Kim is filming her return scenes after departing the BBC One soap in April this year.
Kim, 49, has played Sam Mitchell on and off in the show from 2002 to 2005 and then again from 2022.
Viewers previously watched as Sam exited Albert Square to head to Spain to manage a luxury new bar in a hotel.
She later called Jack Branning to tell him she would be staying on until “at least the end of summer” as the hotel had been inundated with guests.
It’s left fans fearing she may never return to Walford but their fears have now been quashed.
When she returns she’ll meet her granddaughter Charlie who was born earlier this month.
And with EastEnders lining up a Christmas bloodbath storyline Sam is likely to be involved.
Kim was recently spotted out in London after a black cab driver took a selfie with the soap star.
She was smiling while wearing a white top with a multi-coloured detailing on it and her blonde hair hanging loosely around her shoulders.
Danniella Westbrook originally played the role of Sam Mitchell but was axed by Beeb bosses.
