Yogi Adityanath won’t take risk in bypolls for seats, keeps all the reins to himself

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is gearing up for a crucial test of his popularity as the state prepares for bypolls in seven assembly seats. The bypolls are seen as a significant indicator of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) performance in the state ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The bypolls are scheduled to take place in the constituencies of Rampur, Azamgarh, and five other seats that fell vacant due to various reasons, including resignations and disqualifications. The seats are considered crucial for the BJP as they are located in the eastern part of the state, which is considered a stronghold of the party.

Adityanath, who is also the BJP’s state president, has been actively campaigning for the party’s candidates, highlighting the government’s achievements and development works. The party is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a victory in the bypolls, with top leaders, including Union ministers, joining the campaign trail.

The bypolls are also seen as a challenge for the opposition parties, particularly the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), which are trying to regain their lost ground in the state. The SP, in particular, is eyeing a comeback in the state after its dismal performance in the 2022 assembly elections.

The results of the bypolls are expected to have a significant impact on the political landscape of Uttar Pradesh, with the BJP aiming to consolidate its position and the opposition parties seeking to revive their fortunes.
