Vinesh Phogat quit Paris Olympic Games village ahead of CAS verdict: ‘Feeling better, but not talking to anyone’

Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has left the Paris Olympic Games village ahead of the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s (CAS) verdict on her doping case. Phogat, who was provisionally suspended by the United World Wrestling (UWW) due to a doping violation, is still not speaking to anyone, but is reportedly feeling better.

Phogat’s departure from the Games village comes as she awaits the CAS’s decision on her appeal against the suspension. The wrestler had tested positive for a banned substance during an out-of-competition test in May and was subsequently provisionally suspended.

Despite her suspension, Phogat had traveled to Paris with the Indian wrestling team and was staying at the Games village. However, she has now left the village and is awaiting the CAS’s verdict, which is expected soon.

Phogat’s lawyer has stated that she is feeling better and is hopeful of a favorable verdict from the CAS. However, Phogat herself is still not speaking to anyone, including the media, as she awaits the outcome of her appeal.

The CAS’s verdict will determine whether Phogat will be allowed to compete in the Olympic Games or not. If the suspension is upheld, Phogat’s Olympic dreams will be shattered, dealing a significant blow to India’s wrestling contingent.
