New Delhi: AIIMS paramedic students withdrew their agitation and resumed normal work with immediate effect after their demands regarding dormitory accommodation and other Matters were accepted.
On August 22 at 5:30 p.m., a meeting was held between students and officers of the Association of Optometry Students under the presidency of the Dean (academics).
AIIMS Optometrists students went on strike over several court cases which were approved such as hostel accommodation, financial compensation for the family of Abhishek who lost his life, and showing that the notice issued to students was withdrawn.
Attendance for the time of absence is compensated by extra hours worked, which was another demand from the students. The Student Optometry Association resigned on April 13 from swine flu.
The student claimed that the student was denied an ambulance, which resulted in his death. There were allegations that the student was not provided with an ambulance because he was not a resident.
Previously, AIIMS Delhi also issued a statement stating, “Student enrollment at AIIMS New Delhi has been steadily increasing and there is a serious shortage of dormitories for all students.
Paramedic BSc is not dormitories has been offered at AIIMS since 2020. This is stated in the prospectus of these courses and all students are fully aware of this provision at the time of applying for admission. This also applies to many other institutions and other
AIIMS.
This has been communicated to the students many times at previous meetings and their statements have also been forwarded to the Department of Health and Family Welfare. The AIIMS master plan provides for the expansion of accommodation for all students.”
